1. You really get to experience how the whole world functions away from your home. Going to a different country, that is different in terms of culture and tradition really opens up a person’s eyes on how others are living their lives on a daily basis and how it differs from your on such a big level. You really get to experience how different it is to interact with the natives, how different the country is run and how both you and the country can improve itself.
2. You can be a completely different person if you choose to be and no one really cares. To everyone in the country that you are visiting you are the foreigner. Being a foreigner, you are already out of place so acting in an extreme, maybe stupid manner might be a bit fun. Routine is scraped and thrown out the door, you do not really care about how you look, and you certainly do not care about what others perceive you ask. I have even attempted at looking like a hippie with great success. If you really try to experience the whole and take, it in with an open mind you will finish becoming a greater person.
3. In America for you to travel between states it is usually a big mission resulting in expensive plane tickets or the good old road trip. Not so the case here in Europe. Here in Europe the countries are packed out in pretty much the same fashion as states are in America. However over there the train system is well integrated into the system and people are able to get from one place to another very quickly and very easily with little trouble. You can do this without thought, whenever and wherever you want. There are no hidden fees to worry about such as customs charges, and no need to carry big suitcases.
4. Travel opens you up to the world where people are able to speak four of five languages effortlessly. In addition, I mean effortlessly, whereas here in America people struggle to get by with English properly. This really motivates you to try to improve yourself in every way possible. In this way, you are able to learn from foreigners but perhaps you can also give something back to.
5. Travelling long term really makes you appreciate the value of your home country. You can have all the fun in the world in different places, experience a ton of new things but back in the mind, you will still feel great love for you home country. When you return from your travels, small things like McDonald's will just seem so much more pleasurable, you will love conveniences such as coffee in the morning and just love life a little bit more.
